Supporting Little LifeSavers with a Quiz
Having seen an advert for Little Lifesavers in the RH Uncovered Magazine, Vicky knew she wanted to support the cause. It was a perfect fit, with a lifetime of being a first aider, and she immediately contacted us to see how she could help. One of the ways Vicky knew she could support was through fundraising.
We find out directly from Vicky how she came to raise over £600 for our charity.

So how could I support Little LifeSavers?
I discussed the charity with my colleagues, and it sparked the idea to organise a charity quiz night. We used to have quizzes fairly regularly, but since Covid we hadn’t really got back into hosting them, so we saw this as a great opportunity.
We work closely with Wiston Estate, so another colleague asked if they would mind donating a raffle prize. They very kindly offered a prize and so I began researching and contacting other businesses local to Steyning and received a number of prizes.
I created a raffle and quiz poster to put up at work and advertised it in our weekly meetings, charging the cost to train a child (just £3.55!) as the quiz entry fee. I also shared the raffle poster on social media within the Little LifeSavers West Sussex group and was able to sell a good number of tickets, with more being sold on the night.
Quiz night is a go
My colleague SJ, our resident Quiz Master, wrote the quiz and helped me set up the room on the night. I was able to borrow the fundraising pack from Barbara, so we could put up bunting and banners and have a table full of leaflets. Barbara also kindly offered to come and do a welcome speech to ‘set the scene’ and inform people about Little Lifesavers. This was greatly received, as many hadn’t heard of the charity, and it definitely sparked some interest!
On the evening of the quiz, we had seven teams ranging from 4 to 8 people and six quiz rounds including a picture round, food and drink, entertainment, sports, general knowledge, and music. Everyone had lots of fun and the end results were pretty close with the winners only being half a point ahead!
We bought a box of chocolates for the winners and whilst SJ was tallying up the answers, I went around the room asking people to choose a raffle ticket. We had a good range of people win prizes, from colleagues to people who attended the quiz and Little Lifesavers volunteers, and we raised nearly £600 for the charity. As well as this, some people have signed up to volunteer! I had lots of fun arranging and delivering this event and it was great to get the support of family, friends, colleagues and fellow volunteers.
It is only with the support of magnificent people and volunteers that Little LifeSavers is able to continue. We are incredibly grateful to Vicky for her incredible effort in raising funds for Little LifeSavers, and for all those who supported in the lead up and on the night of the quiz.

Little LifeSavers teaches Basic Life Support (BLS) Skills and CPR to children from ages 9 – 13 within school in term-time. There is no fee for the training. However, if your school would like to fundraise for our charity, then this would be gratefully received.
